PHILANTHROPIST BOB HILDRETH SUPPORTS HUMANE IMMIGRANT TREATMENT ON AZTECA AMERICA 'S ISSUES: CARAS Y VOCES

Los Angeles, April 7, 2008 – Azteca America, the fastest-growing Hispanic television network in the United States, is proud to feature philanthropist Bob Hildreth, on this week's broadcast of “Issues: Caras y Voces” (Issues: Faces and Voices), hosted by veteran Latino journalist Armando Guzmán.

Robert Hildreth, a Boston financer who created his wealth by trading Latin American bonds, made a sizable donation last March in order to bail 40 undocumented workers out of detention. Hildreth has been both praised and criticized by many for supporting illegal immigrants. However, this donation is one of many charitable acts. Since the 1980s he has given several million dollars to fund literacy and citizenship classes, as well as build a pre-school in his home state of Massachusetts .

Hildreth explains, “Without help, without support from their families and without a lawyer, this money was their only hope. The funding came a day prior to their deportation and therefore became essential in getting people to a court and to stand in front of a judge.” He believes that being able to stand in a court of law is a fundamental right for every person in the United States .

“Issues: Caras y Voces” features top leaders that impact the Hispanic community through one-on-one interviews conducted by Armando Guzmán. Covering the White House and the Capitol for almost two decades, Mr. Guzmán is one of the most respected correspondents in Washington . The interview forum airs every Monday evening during Noticiero Azteca America , the network news broadcast of Azteca America.

Past guests of “Issues: Caras y Voces” include: New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Senator Mel Martinez (R-FL), Congressman Xavier Becerra (D-CA), Senator Harry Reid (D-NV), former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano, Congressman José E. Serrano (D-NY), Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ), NIDA Director Nora Volkow, ACS President Elmer Huerta, Mexican Consul Enrique Escorza and California Senator Gil Cedillo.
