THE STATE OF LATINOS FEATURED ON "ISSUES: CARAS Y VOCES," BROADCAST ON AZTECA AMERICA AND PROYECTO 40
Los Angeles, Jan. 30, 2008 – Azteca America, the fastest-growing Hispanic television network in the United States, examines the current state of Latinos in the United States during this week's broadcast of “Issues: Caras y Voces” (Issues: Faces and Voices), hosted by veteran Latino journalist Armando Guzmán.
Washington Post Columnist Marcela Sanchez said during the forum that Latinos are steadily making their way into decision-making positions as elected public officials and federal government officials. With a growing presence, not only in the labor force, but in the policy making process, the Latino community is crucial to the state of our union.
However, the Latino community continues to struggle in day to day life. The crash in the housing market, for example, is primarily affecting Latinos. Over 21% of home foreclosures have been against Hispanic homeowners, although they only account for 15% of the general population. It has been a long road, but Latinos are slowly gaining ground in the United States.
“Issues: Caras y Voces” features top leaders that impact the Hispanic community through one-on-one interviews conducted by Armando Guzmán. Covering the White House and the Capitol for almost two decades, Mr. Guzmán is one of the most respected correspondents in Washington . The interview forum airs every Monday evening during Noticiero Azteca America , the network news broadcast of Azteca America.
